Green Cleaning Tile Grout

Cleaning tile grout doesn’t require you to blast your bathroom with chemicals. Over the years chemical cleaning companies have convinced us the only way to clean a bathroom is to douse it with a cocktail of chemical based cleaners.

This simply is not true. By removing chemical cleaners from your home, you will reduce your family’s exposure to potentially toxic ingredients. Some of these toxins have been linked to asthma, cancer, tissue damage and even depression.

A few years ago a friend of ours passed on a simple, eco friendly way to get tile grout clean. We have been using it ever since. On top of the fact it is an earth friendly way to get your bathroom looking great, it requires very little effort and will even save you money.

The big secret? Baking Soda!

Simply dampen the grout with a cloth and immediately sprinkle on the baking soda (try filling an old salt shaker with the baking soda, it really helps your “aim” getting it on the tile). Let it set for about 10 minutes and then use a toothbrush to scrub it clean.

Cleaning tile grout is really simple with this green cleaning method. We were surprised how easy the grout came clean the first time we tried it.

If you have stubborn mold and mildew, try rubbing lemon juice on the grout before you sprinkle the baking soda. Normally you don’t need to do this, but if you are looking for an extra kick, the lemon juice can work wonders (we cut a lemon into quarters and rub the edge right into the grout).

That’s it. A nice and easy way to clean tile grout. Plus you probably have baking soda in your pantry right now!

No more excuses for using chemical cleaners. Catch the green cleaning wave and keep your family safe from the dangers of chemical cleaners.
