A Clean Kitchen is a Green Kitchen

A clean kitchen is important to us for many reasons. A large part of the day is spent in the kitchen and having it clean allows us to use the room the way it is meant to be used. From preparing and enjoying meals to entertaining, the kitchen is a popular hub for many household activities.

Using a green cleaning strategy to keep your kitchen clean can help your family maintain their health. On top of the health benefits, an eco-friendly cleaning strategy will get things looking as good as they ever have.

Did you know the kitchen can be a source for illness? Germs and bacteria are easily transferred here because it’s not only a spot for bags, bills and books but food preparation and consumption. Have you thought about the last place you set your purse? Was it on the floor of your vehicle? Maybe it was next to the sink in a public washroom? And now it finds itself resting on your countertop (right on the spot where you chop vegetables).

Yuck!

Popular media has brought to our attention just how important it is to have a clean kitchen. In an episode of Oprah, Oprah hosted Dr. Philip Tierno (The Secret Life of Germs) who conducted experiments in a viewer’s home and discovered the kitchen sink was full of more harmful bacteria than the toilet!

Double Yuck!!

For a clean kitchen you might be inclined to buy high powered bacteria killers. These products can contain harmful chemicals that will do the job on bacteria; however they can actually cause harm to you and your family over time.

We have been conditioned to think we have to “kill” everything on our countertop by chemical based cleaners. It is just not true. Reduce the toxic residue your family is exposed to and say goodbye to those chemical based cleaners.

Studies show that some chemicals in cleaners from your supermarket are directly linked to cancer, asthma, tissue damage and skin irritations. These cleaners can leave residue that eventually may come into contact with your food items.

That is not good.

You can get a “cleaner clean” than the one provided by chemical based cleaners. Small changes in your buying habits can reduce the negative impacts of chemical cleaners in your home and still provide you with a safe and clean kitchen.

Look for cleaning products that contain no toxic chemicals. Take the time to consider natural cleaning products that will deliver the clean you are really looking for. A healthy clean that leaves no residue of harsh chemicals.

Needless to say there are a huge number of reasons to switch to eco friendly cleaning products. Environmental considerations aside, the effects on your health may be substantial.

We are happy you have decided to make the move to a greener, cleaner home. You, your family and the environment will all benefit.

Happy Cleaning.
