Eco Friendly Cleaning

Chemicals, gah! They are everywhere!

Your move to eco friendly cleaning products is a smart one. Making the switch will make your home a healthier place for you and your family. Green products reduce exposure to potentially toxic chemicals compared to their chemical based cousins. And this means your kids will likely show less symptoms of asthma, skin irritations and eye irritations around the house.

Equally as important, the potential long term health benefits can be significant. The health issues that can be caused by commercial cleaning products make us shudder (it is those carcinogens that make us shudder the most).

Thankfully people all over the world are starting to go green. Products with toxic chemicals are being banished from homes, schools and workplaces everywhere you look.

And it only makes sense.

Getting your hands on eco friendly cleaners is easy to do (in fact you can find them right here at Cleaning Naked). Check out these easy ways you can start cleaning without chemicals.

  • Make your own green cleaner (there are simple and inexpensive ingredients you can use; baking soda and vinegar are two of the best).
  • Simply buy products that have indicators they are less toxic (stay away from danger and poison labels).
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (known as VOC’s) are hard on people who have asthma. They are found in many aerosol sprays, air fresheners and cleaners. You may want to avoid these.
  • When in doubt look for the Green Seal or the EcoLogo stamp of approval. These labels certify the product has undergone independent testing and has met stringent guidelines.
  • Buy your cleaning products only if the manufacturer has listed all ingredients on the side of the bottle. If they don’t list all ingredients, assume there is something in there you don’t want to expose your family to. Yikes!
  • Lastly, one more friendly word of advice. Do not mix your commercial chemical cleaning products. If you do so, you could be messing with your life! (Ammonia and bleach, when mixed, can create fatal chloramines fumes). Double Yikes!
Needless to say there are a huge number of reasons to switch to eco friendly cleaning products. Environmental considerations aside, the effects on your health may be substantial.

We are happy you have decided to make the move to a greener, cleaner home. You, your family and the environment will all benefit.
