Homemade Cleaning Products
Homemade cleaning products? Do they really work? You better believe it!
Like you, were not big fans of dirt. We can’t stand grime and filth. But when it comes to chemical based cleaning products, we like them even less. You know the kind. You probably have them in most (if not all) of your home cleaners. They are the bottles and sprays we keep locked away from our kids because we know they are dangerous. Then for some reason, we use them in a weekly cleaning spree around our home.
Not to sound alarmist, but did you know that chemical based cleaning products in 2006 accounted for nearly 10% of all toxic exposures in the United States (according to the American Association of Poison Control Centers )?
Additionally, the US Environmental Agency states the air in the average home is two to five times more polluted than the air outside. This is largely because of chemical based household cleaners. Yeesh, what are we doing to ourselves?
Chemical based cleaners can cause asthma symptoms and a rash of skin and eye irritations. They also pose long term health threats through exposure to carcinogens. It is no wonder cleaning green is gaining momentum.
Many homes, schools and businesses have made the move to environmentally friendly cleaning products. The main catalyst is the health considerations of family, friends and employees.
There are a number of eco friendly cleaning products on the market today that work wonders. If you don’t have time to compose your own homemade cleaners this is a terrific option for you. But many people have started using, and swear by their homemade cleaning products.
And for good reason.
- Homemade cleaners often get the same results as their chemical based cousins.
- Unlike most commercial cleaners, homemade cleaners are inexpensive.
- You reduce exposure to those nasty toxic chemicals.
- You are reducing the harm to the environment.
Needless to say there are a number of good reasons to switch to eco friendly cleaning products. Environmental considerations aside, the effects on your health may be substantial.
We are happy you have decided to make the move to homemade cleaning products. You, your family and the environment will all benefit.
