Microfiber Cleaning Cloths
Microfiber cleaning cloths seem to offer a miracle solution to effective natural cleaning. Not only do they get rid of bacteria and dirt quickly and efficiently, but they manage to do it without needing those toxic chemical cleaners that are so bad for our families’ health.
When it comes to cleaning the home most of us are looking for the quickest and most effective solution. We want out homes to be clean and free of germs but we don’t want to spend all our free time scrubbing floors and disinfecting counters (when we could be spending time with our kids).
Microfiber cloths make full use of the legendary absorbent qualities of microfiber. The ultra fine split fibers easily trap water, dirt and even microscopic bacteria and viruses, picking them away from the surface that you are wiping and leaving no residue.
Microfiber is a synthetic material but good quality microfiber is incredibly hard-wearing, literally lasting for years. Even better are the advanced microfibers produced by Norwex and Enjo, which combine the absorbency of microfiber with their own technologies.
The advantages of microfiber cleaning cloths are immense. Chemical based household cleaners are one of the biggest causes of long-term respiratory ailments, unexplained sensitivities, allergies, asthma and many are even cancer causing. By cleaning regularly with these cleaners we are inadvertently exposing our families and children to toxic chemicals that could have a long-term negative impact on their health. And yet we don’t want to allow germs free reign in our homes either. Germs, dust and airborne yeasts can also have a bad effect on health. Microfiber cloths are the solution to this dilemma.
Wiping over a kitchen counter just with a little water and a microfiber cloth will pick up 99.9% of bacteria, yeast, fungus spores and viruses. With the absorbency of the cloth just one wipe over is enough to leave a clean surface. And as you are no longer using chemicals, the few bacteria left behind won’t be developing the chemical resistance of the notorious superbugs that plague our hospitals.
The microfiber cloth is then simply rinsed out and left to dry. As it does so, the silver in the cloth kills off all the bacteria picked up in the cloth within a few hours, so there is no chance for them to breed and colonize your kitchen.
Microfiber cloths do need regular washing to get rid of food particles caught in the fibers. Silver may kill off bacteria but it doesn’t stop trapped food bits getting stinky! They can just be put through a regular laundry cycle and the Norwex cloths can even go in a dryer, as long as you don’t use any fabric softener.
It makes sense to keep separate cloths for different areas of the house, as it takes a little time for the silver in the cloths to neutralize bacteria. You don’t want to go straight from cleaning the bathroom to wiping down kitchen counters with the same cloth, however effective it is at swiping up and killing bacteria (that’s my personal preference, anyway)!
One thing is for sure; once you start using microfiber cleaning cloths, you will find more and more uses for them around the house. You will also have no need for those toxic chemicals you may have in your pantry.
